Good News to be Shared…

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

I have good news, that I am happy to share…my friend Becky has saved up her money by working at Target for the past year, hoping to pack up her things and move to LA, she was living in Erie, PA.  She was there 1 week, and in that time she successfully landed a job in her field.  Becky and I went to Edinboro University together both studying stop motion animation.  She starts Monday working for a company called Shadow Machine which is responsible for the stop motion shows Robot Chicken, and Morel Orel.  She will be making puppets for Robot Chicken.  Which is fantastic for her, she really deserves that job and I know she will do an excellent job.

On to other things, I am currently working on modeling a Jeep in Blender…I have the Wheel, and the Seats, and the Rocket Launcher done (Rocket Launcher optional).  I am working on the body right now…I am getting stronger and stronger at this program, and hopefully soon, it will become another part of my tool box for making great films.

So congrats to Becky, and I am off…

Throw me in the blender…

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

So it’s been about a week now since I have decided to start learning the CG Animation program Blender…it’s an open source software that is based on a number of different CG Animation programs…in college my colleagues learned Lightwave…I avoided it as much as I can…of course now I’m sort of regretting that…because I am having to learn this program from the ground up…

At first glance the program was quite intimidating…but with practice and lesson tutorials, I was able to create a simple man, a Gingerbread man…and now a Penguin…A very realistic looking penguin as far as body shape goes…I was quite impressed.

I’m having fun learning this program, some lessons take me 2 or 3 tries to get right, but the more I do it, the more I find that  I am learning key strokes and navigation throughout the program…

Pretty soon I’ll be making Toy Story 3

Using videos for selling cars…

Monday, August 20th, 2007

A company in California…well actually they have locations around the world, are responsible for Driver TV…who’s tagline is “Bringing the showroom to Your living room.”  This  company is shooting videos in High Definition of cars that are for sale.  Different brands of cars, in different price ranges…You have the ability to watch these videos at him OnDemand…most time warner customers have OnDemand, and this company shoots videos of cars so that you can watch a 3 minute “trailer” about the car you might be interested in.  There website, does the same thing, it gives you all the information you need to know about the car in 3 minutes, all within a nice Flash presentation.

It’s an interesting thought that they are making it easier to shop for cars, and to shop for anything…you don’t have to leave the house to do your research, and also you don’t even have to use the internet to shop for your cars…

I’m a “Car Guy” I like looking at cars whether I am going to be in the market for one or not, but I’m thinking if there is nothing on TV, I might want to just watch and learn more about different cars that are out there…and that’s people like me that make this work for selling…And make this work for buying.

One comment that was made that I thought was interesting is that they also give you an ipod version of the video online so you can show off your new cars to your friends.  And also, a car salesman uses driver TV as a way to sell that car while doing less work…because the videos sell themselves.
